Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care in an assigned unit. You will participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

The role requires graduation from an accredited practical nursing program, current Georgia LPN licensure, and BLS. Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) may be preferred for certain units and clinical specialty areas.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Render direct patient care to an assigned group of patients in accordance with Northside Hospital policies and procedures.
• Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
• Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse in an assigned clinical area.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

Georgia LPN license

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) render direct patient care to an assigned group of patients, in accordance with the philosophy, policies and procedures of Northside Hospital. LPNs participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. LPNs work under the direction of the Registered Nurse in an assigned clinical area.

According to the National Association of Practical & Licensed Vocational Nurses (NALPN), “Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses are a specialized field who represent the entry into the nursing practice profession”. LPNs practice in diverse clinical settings that include different healthcare professionals who work collaboratively as a team. This collaborative team works to “improve a patient’s function and to protect the health and safety of the patients”. LPNs are part of the Licensed Practical Nurse – Nursing Excellence Track Program (L-NEXT) at Northside Hospital and have the opportunity for career advancement opportunities through expansion of knowledge, expertise through both academic/continuing education, and specialty certification.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

• One (1) year of experience as an LPN.
• Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications may be preferred in specific units.
• Visual color acuity screening depending on the role in specific units.
