Job summary

Northside Hospital in Georgia is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our care teams. LPNs provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in an assigned unit, following our policies and procedures.

Candidates must graduate from an accredited practical nursing program, hold Georgia LPN licensure, and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support. Experience is valued, and additional life-support credentials may be preferred for certain units.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current Georgia LPN licensure.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
• Operate within the unit policies and procedures to maintain patient safety and quality care.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to support patient and family needs.

Responsibilities

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) render direct patient care to an assigned group of patients, in accordance with the philosophy, policies and procedures of Northside Hospital. LPNs participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. LPNs work under the direction of the Registered Nurse in an assigned clinical area.

According to the National Association of Practical & Licensed Vocational Nurses (NALPN), “Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses are a specialized field who represent the entry into the nursing practice profession”. LPNs practice in diverse clinical settings that include different healthcare professionals who work collaboratively as a team. This collaborative team works to “improve a patient’s function and to protect the health and safety of the patients”. LPNs are part of the Licensed Practical Nurse – Nursing Excellence Track Program (L-NEXT) at Northside Hospital and have the opportunity for career advancement opportunities through expansion of knowledge, expertise through both academic/continuing education, and specialty certification.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

• One (1) year of experience as an LPN.
• Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications may be preferred in specific units.
• Visual color acuity screening depending on the role in specific units.
