Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for night shifts in Wisconsin, delivering prescribed treatments and personal care in an inpatient setting. The role includes 36 hours per week with weekend/holiday coverage as needed, under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include administering medications, documenting care, and contributing to the patient care plan while observing safety and established protocols. CPR/BLS certification is required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN Program; Wisconsin option to complete LPN licensure.
• Experience in clinical setting preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality patient care per established protocols.
• Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Administer medications as allowed by policy and licensure.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and communicate with the RN.
• Assist in implementing and planning the patient care plan under RN direction.
• Identify emergencies and initiate appropriate nursing measures.
• Instruct patients in self-care per teaching plan.
• Document care activities.
• Participate in QA & I.

OVERVIEWProvides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients in an inpatient setting in support of the nursing philosophy. Responsibilities may include day, evening, night, weekend, holiday, and/or on-call shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned.Schedule: 36 hours per weekShift: NightsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvides quality patient care by performing treatments and procedures according to established protocols.Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatmentAdministers specified medications as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act.Responds in a safe and timely manner to patient requests and reports significant observations to the RN promptly.Demonstrates knowledge of the patient's plan of care and delivers care safely and within established standards and guidelines. Participates in planning for patient's care by providing input to the RN and under the direction of the RN, assists in implementing the patient care plan.Demonstrates knowledge of established hospital and nursing policies. Identifies emergency situations, initiates nursing measures as appropriate within scope of practice in emergency situations and seeks assistance and direction as necessary.Instructs patients in self-care according to the teaching plan and the directions of the RN.
