Job summary

Mercyhealth is hiring an LPN for our Behavioral Health Unit in a night shift role. The schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts with weekend rotation, nights from 6:30PM to 7:00AM.

The incumbent will administer medications, monitor patient responses, and work under the direction of an RN to implement the care plan. The ideal candidate is a licensed LPN with clinical experience and CPR/BLS readiness within 90 days, with Wisconsin licensure or eligible licensure as described.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
• Wisconsin: completion of RN program portion for practical nursing certificate.
• Illinois: ladder option RN program completion.
• Experience in clinical settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality patient care by performing treatments and procedures per protocols.
• Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Administers medications as allowed by policy, licensure, and state act.
• Responds to patient requests and informs RN promptly.
• Delivers care per patient plan under RN guidance and inputs to care planning.
• Identifies emergencies and initiates nursing measures within scope.
• Instructs patients in self-care per teaching plan and RN directions.
• Participates in QA & I.

OVERVIEW

The LPN for Behavioral Health Unit provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients in an inpatient setting by performing the following duties supporting the nursing philosophy

Schedule: Three, 12-Hour Shifts, Weekend Rotation

Shift: Nights (6:30PM-7:00AM)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides quality patient care by performing treatments and procedures according to established protocols.

• Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment

• Administers specified medications as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act.

• Responds in a safe and timely manner to patient requests and reports significant observations to the RN promptly.

• Demonstrates knowledge of the patient's plan of care and delivers care safely and within established standards and guidelines. Participates in planning for patient's care by providing input to the RN and under the direction of the RN, assists in implementing the patient care plan.

• Demonstrates knowledge of established hospital and nursing policies. Identifies emergency situations, initiates nursing measures as appropriate within scope of practice in emergency situations and seeks assistance and direction as necessary.

• Instructs patients in self-care according to the teaching plan and the directions of the RN. Documents this aspect of the patient's care.

• Participates in QA & I.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR

Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing.

Illinois: Have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.

Experience in clinical setting preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in state of practice
Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Work is performed according to specific procedures and methods, but the incumbent must make minor decisions in order to adapt to routine situation.

PAY RANGE:

$23.18 - $60.87
