Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas invites an LPN to join our urology clinic team on a full-time, days schedule. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, perform wound care and specimen collection, and support care plans and patient comfort.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Perform plan of care interventions incl. specimen collection and wound care.
• Assist RN with plans of care and daily living activities.
• Monitor and document patient status and responses to interventions.
• Schedules appointments and obtain insurance re-authorizations.

How you’ll contribute

• As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient’s status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have an Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact) and be a graduate of a Practical Nursing program. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: LPN License for the State of Tennessee.
• Education: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
