Job summary

Eastern Iowa Rehabilitation Hospital is actively seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our rehabilitation team. The role supports nursing staff on night shifts (7p–7a) with duties including medication administration, assessments, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
• Current state LPN/LVN license.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications safely and accurately per patient age and condition.
• Minimize medication errors by following proper procedures.
• Assist RN with initial assessments and reassessments per policy.
• Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
• Perform timely Quality Improvement assessments under RN supervision.
• Deliver care based on patient response and update the care plan accordingly.
• Assess and reassess pain; educate patients and families on pain management.
• Perform patient care tasks to promote safety and reduce errors.
• Develop and implement teaching plans based on patient needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

How You'll Contribute

• Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Minimize potential for medication errors by following proper medication administration procedures.
• Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
• Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
• Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.
• Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.
• Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
• Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
• Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should be graduates of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program and have a current state LPN/LVN license. Additional requirements include:

• CPR/BLS Certification
• ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Dependent Adult and Child
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Six (6) months of Medical/Surgical experience
