Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a clinic, full-time, Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm. Under RN supervision you will perform data collection, assist with care plans and medication administration, and support patients with daily activities.

You will document care, monitor patient status, coordinate with providers, and help schedule procedures. A Kentucky LPN license and BCLS certification are required, with a single-state license acceptable

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Current LPN/PN to practice in Kentucky.
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact) required.
• Certification BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of an RN, collects data for assessment.
• Performs plan of care interventions including wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Monitors and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions.
• Advocates for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being.
• Schedules and coordinates appointments and procedures as ordered.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations for testing and procedures.

How you'll contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules, appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

Non-Essential Functions

• Attend clinic meetings.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
• Completes safety instructional programs.
• Assist other team members when time permits.

What we are looking for

• Education: Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
• License: Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
• Certification BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer
• Minimum Work Experience: Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds
