How you make a difference

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in patient care by contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Working under the supervision of registered nurses, the LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities that align with their education and demonstrated competencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions under RN supervision, contributing to individualized treatment planning and consulting with RN(s) and staff as needed.
• Implement treatment programs directed by health care practitioners, administer medications—including IV therapy (if certified)—and perform diagnostic tests according to established protocols.
• Collaborate in controlled substance counts at the beginning of each shift, adhering to safety techniques and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies.
• Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures, implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

Experience

• Prefer a minimum of one (1) year in a clinic setting.

Licenses/Certifications

• Hold current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) within the state of employment.
• Obtain and maintain CPR certification.
