Job summary

Starr Regional Family Practice-Dr. Collins (Etowah) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time position running Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an LPN program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire/transfer
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding; insurance benefits understanding

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient assessments and data collection
• Perform plan of care interventions including wound care and specimen collection
• Administer medications under supervision and document care
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and ADLs
• Monitor patient status and communicate with RN, physician, and families

How you’ll contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient’s status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures. Attends clinic meetings. Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiates appropriate action. Completes safety instructional programs.
• Assists other team members when time permits.

What we’re looking for

Education: Graduate of an LPN program

Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds Required

EMR experience

Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required within 30 days of hire/transfer

Licenses: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.
