Job summary

Houghton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in New York seeks a dedicated nurse to join our full-time evening, night, and every-other-weekend shifts. The role offers a sign-on bonus and a starting rate of $29.58–$33.15 per hour, with a wage adjustment up to $33.90 per hour based on years of experience.

Responsibilities include safe resident care, medication administration, and coordinating with the care team. A minimum of 1 year of experience and an active license are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe resident care, following standards and policies.
• Participates in quality improvement for resident care.
• Considers age-specific needs in care provisions.
• Communicates resident information and plan of care during shifts.
• Administers medications following the five rights and documents them.
• Performs treatments using sterile or clean technique.
• Administers external feedings as needed.
• Completes care activities within the scheduled shift.
• Cooperates with reassignment for resident care.
• Reports care problems and proposes solutions to management.
• Delegates care problems and solutions to management.

Functions

• Provides safe resident care, demonstrating knowledge and competency in completing assigned treatments and procedures according to established standards and policies. Maintains awareness of new updates standards and incorporates them into his/her nursing practice through out the continuum of care.
• Participates in the improvement process of quality resident care.
• Incorporates age-specific needs, provision of care, procedures, and treatments.
• Communicates pertinent resident information and plan of care before breaks, during transfer, and at shift report.
• Accurately administers medications according to the five rights of medication administration and documentation of same.
• Accurately performs treatments utilizing sterile or clean technique.
• Accurately administers external feedings.
• Completes resident care-related activities within scheduled shift time periods.
• Cooperates with reassignments made in the interest of resident care.
• Reports resident care problems and possible solutions to the appropriate nursing management personnel.
• Delegates resident care problems and possible solutions to the appropriate nursing management personnel.
