Job Description

NO WEEKENDS! NO ON CALL!

Summary Of Position

Provides psychiatric and medical assessment and triage, face-to-face or by phone as indicated. Obtains medical monitoring data as necessary. Maintains medical record as expected. Assists in pharmacologic treatment by providing medication information, monitoring for side effects, compliance, and calls in ordered medications. Administers parenteral medications and performs venipuncture and other laboratory monitoring functions as requested. Is aware of and demonstrates appropriate infection control techniques and demonstrates an awareness of emergency medical management procedures. Reviews and records laboratory and other data and assures a timely and appropriate response to abnormal labs. Attends specified clinic, medical staff, and educational meetings. Maintains record of Nursing CEUs. Reviews appropriate current literature in nursing and psychiatric nursing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention and crisis stabilization as needed in management of caseload, utilizing sound clinical judgment.
  • Evaluates outcomes, consults with other health team members as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Adequately assess and reassess pain.
  • Facilitates the effective administration of medication through patient education and supportive counseling.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Provides medical support functions, including clinical monitoring (i.e vital signs), phlebotomy services and/or parenteral injections for patients as requested by physicians and nurse practitioners.
  • Act as a liaison with area psychiatric facilities, other hospitals and laboratories, and other medical providers.
  • Attends appropriate in-service programs provided by the agency and maintains current nursing education for professional development.
  • Completes annual education requirements & maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Completes in-services. Attends staff meetings and board meetings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Strong prioritization/organization skills.
  • Meets dress code standards, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated time.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community...
  • Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of facility.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

Education Level

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from accredited PN program
