Blue Ridge Medical Center in Arrington, VA is seeking an LPN to provide direct nursing care and clinical support to the provider within a busy primary care clinic.

The LPN will document care in the EMR, assist with pre/post procedures, labs, triage, and patient education, while supporting routine office duties and adherence to BRMC’s mission and values. Location: Arrington - Main Campus; shift days; full-time role.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing with current LPN licensure in VA and active CPR certification.
  • 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience as an LPN or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide clinical support to the provider as needed and provide direct nursing care to patients. As a collaborative team member, the LPN contributes to the smooth operation of the clinic including administrative support and operational efficiency. This role may involve assignments at satellite locations as needed. The LPN is expected to demonstrate a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision, and core values of BRMC.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct routine nursing care to patients and clinical assistance to provider according to provider’s instructions. As well as documenting all patient care provided in the EMR. This including nurse visits for blood pressure readings, medicine reviews, maintenance injections etc.
  • Provides pre- and post-procedural nursing care to patients including administration of medication, point of care lab tests, venipuncture, EKGs, vision and hearing screens and assessment of patient’s status and development.
  • Collects, labels and prepares specimens for lab, ensuring that the specimen is labeled in front of the patient and that all patients with each encounter are identified using the two patient identifiers of full name and date of birth.
  • Provides patient specific education and communicates lab, x-ray, and test results with patients.
  • Assists with patient triage to assess patient needs and consults with providers to make decisions about appropriate levels of care.
  • Complete Transitional Care Management per protocols (transition of care when patient has been discharged from hospital or facility)
  • Provides medicine reviews during office visits as well as updates to medical history, surgical history, allergy updates and social history along with assisting the provider to address specialized alerts set-up in the EMR (i.e. Cancer screenings, eye exams, PHQ-9 assessments, immunizations, labs that are due, etc.).
  • Assists with routine office duties to include ordering medical supplies, maintaining appropriate inventory, scheduling patients, answering telephones, keeping environment need and orderly etc.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Performs other necessary duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing/Clinical Nurse Manager to meet the goal of providing quality health care services.
Compensation Range

$22.58/hr - $26.96/hr

Position Requirements
Cognitive Requirements

The LPN may be required to process information very quickly and respond to emergent situations with a quick turn around time. The LPN needs to be able to read, write, spell and communicate with consumers using complete and appropriate vocabulary. Cognitive skills are required as well to operate equipment (EMR, EKG, AED etc.). If limitations exist with the candidate, Blue Ridge Medical Center will acquire adaptive aids and services as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing with current LPN licensure in VA and active CPR certification.
  • 1-2 years of experience providing nursing services in a clinical setting as an LPN is required or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional ethics
