Job summary

Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant will function in conjunction with a medical provider to assist in the provision of professional medical care and nursing support. Duties include performing as a member of the team and assisting in the administration and maintenance of an efficiently operated clinic. May be assigned to special projects such as primary care/mental health integration or to a satellite site. The Certified Medical Assistant must demonstrate a sincere dedication and loyalty to the mission, vision and core values of BRMC. Primary responsibility will be patient flow, including:

Responsibilities

• Greets and rooms patients ensuring two patient identifiers.
• Obtains vital signs, weight and height and any other pertinent data per center protocols.
• Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
• Assists in examination and treatment of patients. Performs necessary test(s) as directed by provider.
• Administers injections under the direction of a provider.
• Collects, labels, and prepares specimens for lab.
• Assists with nursing visits including but not limited to the following: blood pressure readings, medicine reviews, etc.
• Documents all patient care provided in the patients' electronic health record.
• Assists with routine maintenance activities including but not limited to the following: cleans equipment, stocks exam rooms, organizes clinical work area, etc.
• Participates in performance improvement activities in accordance with applicable standards.
• Performs other necessary duties as assigned by the Clinical Nurse Manager or DON to meet the goal of providing quality health care services.

Compensation Range: $$17.55/hr - $20.13/hr

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program certificate required, with 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
• Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant through an accredited organization and active CPR certification required.
• Excellent communication skills, computer skills and proficiency in using an electronic health records system for charting, scheduling and communication.
• Ability to speak fluently in Spanish a plus.

Must be able to work with all levels of employees and providers and be a team player; must maintain confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects; and must have knowledge of and ability to work with computer programs (MS Office, EHR, etc.) and office equipment used in clinical settings.

Working Conditions

• This position is a FLSA non-exempt position which may require work in excess of 40 hours per week. Work hours are Monday through Friday during variable hours of clinical operations which includes some Saturdays to meet the Center’s needs and accomplish the duties of this position.
• Comply with and set example of compliance with BRMC’s policies/procedures/practices; comply with legal requirements for non-profit organizations.
• Perform and complete duties under stress and demands from different sources, and meeting strict deadlines.
• Tolerate prolonged computer related exposure. Able to sit or stand at a workstation for long periods of time.
• May be exposed to hostile or emotional clients, family members, and staff, as well as disturbing or sensitive information
• May be exposed to infectious diseases and medical waste.
