Job summary

Blue Ridge Associates in Neurology is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care and clinical support at our Salem and Christiansburg clinics. This full-time role reports to the provider and Director of Operations and supports neurology patients, including those with Multiple Sclerosis.

You will assist with examinations, administer medications, document in the EMR, and participate in research activities where applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
• Active LPN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred.
• Experience in neurology, MS, autoimmune disorders or infusion therapy preferred.
• Strong clinical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice.
• Obtain and document vital signs and patient information.
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Administer medications and injections as ordered by the provider.
• Support IV and infusion therapies, including monitoring and documentation.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications and plans.
• Monitor patients and report changes to the provider.
• Coordinate specimen collection and laboratory testing.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and ready for visits.
• Coordinate patient care activities and scheduling.
• Adhere to HIPAA, infection control and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with providers, staff and patients.
• Support neurology studies and research coordination where applicable.

Job description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – provides direct patient care and clinical support at Blue Ridge Associates in Neurology on a full-time basis. The LPN works under the direction of the provider and Director of Operations to deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with neurological conditions, including Multiple Sclerosis and related disorders.

This role is responsible for supporting patient care activities, assisting with treatments and procedures, and helping maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-centered clinical environment. This role may also support clinical research initiatives and patient participation in neurology-related studies as part of the practice’s commitment to advancing care for neurological conditions.

This role will serve our Salem and Christiansburg clinics.

Responsibilities of the LPN include the following:

• Provide direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice
• Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and patient information
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
• Administer medications and injections as ordered by the provider
• Support the administration of IV and infusion therapies (as permitted by scope and training), including patient monitoring and documentation
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and treatment plans
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and report concerns to the provider
• Perform specimen collection and coordinate laboratory testing
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared for patient visits
• Coordinate patient care activities, including scheduling and follow-up
• Adhere to all clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, infection control, safety standards)
• Communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, and patients
• Support clinical research activities and neurology-related studies as applicable, including patient coordination, data collection, documentation, and adherence to research protocols and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program
• Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred
• Experience in neurology, Multiple Sclerosis, autoimmune disorders, or infusion therapy preferred
• Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Proficiency with electronic medical records

This position operates primarily in a clinical office environment within the Salem and Christiansburg locations. Direct patient interaction and on-site presence are required.
