Job summary

Person Memorial Hospital seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Employee Health. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, contribute to care planning, and support daily living activities while maintaining regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include data collection, specimen collection, wound care, medication administration, documentation, and coordinating appointments. A caring attitude and NC LPN license are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Active North Carolina LPN license.
• BCLS/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT codes and insurance basics.
• Ability to work under RN supervision and follow scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient assessment by gathering data for analysis.
• Perform plan of care interventions including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medications as directed.
• Document patient care provided and updates to the plan.
• Assist with development of the plan of care with the RN.
• Help patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Monitor and communicate patient status and responses to interventions.
• Schedule procedures and appointments as ordered by the provider.
• Obtain insurance pre-authorizations for tests and procedures.

Summary: As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to: Director of Physician Practices

How You'll Contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

What we're looking for

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
• Current LPN/PN to practice in North Carolina
• BCLS within 30 days of hire
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds (required)

Non-Essential Functions

• Attends clinic meetings.
• Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
• Reports all incidents, hazards, drug interactions, and initiate appropriate action.
• Completes safety instructional programs.
• Assists other team members when time permits.
