Job summary

Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a PRN/Varied schedule in the Skilled Nursing unit. The unit has 60 beds and collaborates with labs, rehab, hospice, and psychiatric teams.

You'll provide education, administer meds, ensure safety, and support patient outcomes under the Unit Director, with opportunities to grow and contribute to a compassionate care team. RN license in NC required; BLS; ASN; experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current NC RN license (or compact license).
• ASN from an accredited nursing program.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
• One year of experience preferred; new grads encouraged to apply.
• Active NC RN license (single state) or compact; if relocating, licensure must be updated before employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient/family education using the teach back method; documents education.
• Delivers patient care activities according to standards of care and practice.
• Administration of medications and treatments, e.g., IV meds, blood and blood products.
• Checks emergency equipment/drugs for proper operation and availability each shift.
• Maintains a safe patient and working environment by infection control and safety policies.
• Receives physician orders, documents, follows up and evaluates patients' outcomes; ensures orders carried out per policy.
• Assists physician with bedside procedures.
• Performs other related duties incidental to work described herein.

This unit has 60 beds, with an average occupancy of 50 to 53 residents. We care for patients with diagnoses such as Dementia, Alzheimer's, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and those in need of short‑term rehabilitation. In addition, there are 26 private rooms.Our primary focus is on the senior population and conveniently located within Person Memorial Hospital (PMH). Nurses will collaborate closely with the laboratory, rehabilitation, hospice, and psychiatric teams.

Reports to: Unit Director

How you’ll contribute

• Provides patient/family education utilizing the teach back method, evaluates and recommends additional education as indicated by evaluation of patient/family learning and documents.
• Delivers patient care activities according to standards of Care and Practice.
• Administration of medications and treatments, i.e., initiation and maintenance of IV meds, blood and blood products,
• Checks emergency equipment/drugs for proper operation and availability every shift.
• Maintains a safe patient and working environment by adhering to infection control and safety policies and procedures.
• Receives physician orders, documents, follows up and evaluates patients' outcomes. Assures that orders are carried out properly per policy.
• Assist physician with bedside procedures.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.

Non‑Essential Functions

• Assist with AM care and bed bath.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, in‑services, projects and committees as assigned.
• Requesting and putting supplies away
• Key in work orders
• Order daily dietary supplies
• Receptionist duties
• Work scheduled shifts and overtime as necessary

What we’re looking for

• Current RN licensein the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)from an accredited nursing program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
• One year of experience is preferred (new grads encouraged to apply)
• Active North Carolina RN license (single state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins
