Job summary

Abraxas Youth and Family Services, a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse position in Raleigh, NC, is seeking compassionate professionals to join a team dedicated to helping individuals achieve greater independence and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Licensed practical nurse or registered nurse license to practice in the appropriate State by the board in which the program/facility resides.
  • Ability to promote positive behavior and manage resistant behavior.
  • Physical ability to safely and effectively manage aggressive behavior.
  • Assertiveness, confidence and leadership abilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
  • Background checks for crimes including drug-related, violent, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and misdemeanors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with medical treatment of clients under supervision of medical staff.
  • Refer clients to contracted physicians and medical agencies.
  • Administer physician-prescribed medications and vaccines.
  • Maintain inventory of medications and supplies.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid.
  • Maintain medical documentation and HIPAA compliance.
  • Participate in health training and multidisciplinary treatment meetings.
  • Coordinate with community service agencies for routine and emergency care.

What You’ll Do

As a LPN, you will:

  • Under the supervision of and in collaboration with an appropriate medical staff member (i.e. physician or registered nurse), assist with medical treatment of clients by ensuring the components of the nursing process are effectively applied. Designated as the Responsible Health Authority.
  • Designates appropriate client referrals to the contracted physician(s) and other medical agencies or practitioners.
  • Administer physician prescribed medications and vaccines.
  • Control and maintains adequate inventory of medications and medical supplies.
  • Respond to all medical emergencies, provide first aid and periodically work "on-call" shifts to provide emergency assistance as needed.
  • Maintain all medical documentation, medical history, and file on each client and abides by HIPAA compliance rules and regulations.
  • Actively participate in nursing related performance improvement activities.
  • Participate in health training of clients to include hygiene, nutrition, and diet.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Coordinate with community service agencies, as required, to ensure routine and emergency medical care for clients and staff members.
  • Promote good health habits, hygiene, and nutrition with all clients.
  • Evaluate continuously the quality of medical care for the clients.
  • Ensure medical services department complies with all licensing and regulatory statues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensed practical nurse or registered nurse license to practice in the appropriate State by the board in which the program/facility resides.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to promote positive behavior and manage resistant behavior.
  • Physical ability to safely and effectively manage aggressive behavior.
  • Assertiveness, confidence and leadership abilities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
