Job summary

Abraxas Youth and Family Services in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a part-time role. You will work under medical staff supervision and help administer care to clients, contributing to a mission-driven team.

You’ll receive paid training and a competitive pay rate of 31.00/hour with DailyPay options, along with a comprehensive benefits package. No experience required for many positions; training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as LPN or RN in the appropriate state.
• Background checks and pre-employment screenings required.
• Must have a valid Driver's License.
• Ability to promote positive behavior and manage resistant behavior.
• Physical exam incl. TB and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with medical treatment under supervision, designating as Responsible Health Authority.
• Refer clients to contracted physicians and other medical providers.
• Administer physician-prescribed medications and vaccines.
• Maintain inventory of medications and supplies.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid; participate in on-call shifts.

What You’ll Do

As a LPN, you will:

• Under the supervision of and in collaboration with an appropriate medical staff member (i.e. physician or registered nurse), assist with medical treatment of clients by ensuring the components of the nursing process are effectively applied. Designated as the Responsible Health Authority.
• Designates appropriate client referrals to the contracted physician(s) and other medical agencies or practitioners.
• Administer physician prescribed medications and vaccines.
• Control and maintains adequate inventory of medications and medical supplies.
• Respond to all medical emergencies, provide first aid and periodically work "on-call" shifts to provide emergency assistance as needed.
• Maintain all medical documentation, medical history, and file on each client and abides by HIPAA compliance rules and regulations.
• Actively participate in nursing related performance improvement activities.
• Participate in health training of clients to include hygiene, nutrition, and diet.
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
• Coordinate with community service agencies, as required, to ensure routine and emergency medical care for clients and staff members.
• Promote good health habits, hygiene, and nutrition with all clients.
• Evaluate continuously the quality of medical care for the clients.
• Ensure medical services department complies with all licensing and regulatory statues.

Qualifications

Required:

• Licensed practical nurse or registered nurse license to practice in the appropriate State by the board in which the program/facility resides.

Other Qualifications:

• Ability to promote positive behavior and manage resistant behavior.
• Physical ability to safely and effectively manage aggressive behavior.
• Assertiveness, confidence and leadership abilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Effective time management skills.
• At least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
• Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
