Job summary

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a dedicated LPN for the Emergency Department to provide patient care across a Level 1 Trauma/Stroke center. This full-time role offers days, mids, and nights with a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 and comprehensive benefits.

The nurse will apply the nursing process, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure patient rights and confidentiality while supporting ED operations in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Maintain a current LPN license in the hiring state.
• Hospital-based experience required; one year Emergency Department preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or within 30 days of hire.
• LPN-IV certification must be completed or within 3 months for Missouri LPNs.
• Physical demands include standing/walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process under supervision or RN oversight.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and protect patient rights and confidentiality.
• Contribute to a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma/Stroke center environment.
• Support a team of Emergency Medicine Physicians and nursing staff.

Overview:

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of person(s) licensed by a State regulatory board to prescribe medication and treatment, or under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements.
• Experience: Must have hospital-based experience. Preferred one year Emergency Department experience.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire. LPN-IV Certification must be previously completed or successful completion of course within 3 months of hire for LPNs in Missouri. Other Certifications may be required upon hire.
• Physical Requirements/Demands: Stand/Walk most of the time on duty; significant amount of bending and stooping, as well as lifting and turning patients with assistance; push/pull/grip up to 50 pounds.
