Qualifications

• Must hold an active RN or LPN license in IL or WI.
• CPR certification required or within two weeks of employment.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices.
• Interest/experience in elder care.
• Strong English reading/writing/speaking.
• Ability to make independent decisions.
• Ability to communicate tactfully with customers, family, visitors.

Responsibilities

• Accepts and supports directives from the appropriate authority.
• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing for the unit.
• Ensure nursing procedures follow established policies.
• Directly supervise and instruct nursing staff on topics to promote knowledge.
• Ensure adherence to department policies and dress code.
• Assist in developing care plans for customers.
• Attend care plan conferences as directed.
• Report concerns to the Administrator.
• Counsel/discipline nursing personnel as needed.
• Perform daily rounds to ensure duties and procedures are followed.
• Maintain warmth and a calm department atmosphere.
• Attend continuing education programs.
• Recommend equipment and supply needs to Nursing Director.
• Place orders for medications and treatments as necessary.
• Document and chart accordingly.
• Complete admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered.
• Review medication records for accuracy and compliance.
• Administer nursing procedures as required.
• Orient new customers/family members to the facility.
• Arrange diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered.
• Notify attending physicians and families of condition changes.
• Obtain lab samples as ordered.
• Record vital signs and tests.
• Consult physicians for condition changes and orders.
• Ensure charted notes reflect care provided.
• Complete assessments at admission, transfer, or discharge.
• Communicate changes to physicians and families.
• Attend staff meetings and related activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
