Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in Massachusetts to provide professional nursing care under physician orders and the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role supports remote work with periodic in-person sessions, training, and ongoing performance improvement activities.

You will administer medications, implement nursing plans of care, and document patient responses within the primary nursing model.

Job description

• Provide professional and nonprofessional nursing care in accordance with physician orders
• Function as part of the healthcare team under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Participate in implementation and evaluation of patient care
• Work remotely while returning to in-person work at clinic leadership's request with adequate notice
• Complete initial in-person training
• Attend periodic in-person sessions as needed to support in-person clinics or additional training and oversight
• Implement nursing plans of care, interventions, medication administration, and procedures
• Provide direct patient care within the primary nursing model
• Perform medications and treatments according to policies, procedures, and the Nurse Practice Act
• Assess, manage, and document patient pain
• Report changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse
• Establish relationships with patients and families; provide teaching, counseling, and discharge instructions
• Document nursing interventions and patient responses in medical records
• Delegate responsibilities appropriately
• Participate in performance improvement activities
• Maintain professional practice and continuing learning
• Collaborate with peers and colleagues
• Report and accurately document pertinent patient observations

Requirements

• Massachusetts's Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Experience is dependent upon unit requirements and needs
• Basic Life Support Certification
• Ability to maintain compliance with remote work guidelines, including secure access to systems and protection of PHI
• Participation in virtual meetings, training, and performance improvement efforts
• Ability to provide nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse
• Knowledge and application of the nursing process
• Knowledge of pharmacology/medications and monitoring patient response
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team
• Ability to provide age-appropriate care and communication throughout the lifespan
• Physical ability to stand/walk extensively, lift/transfer patients and equipment, and handle emergency situations
• Ability to work irregular hours
• Preferred: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor
• Preferred: Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program
