Job summary

James Madison University’s University Health Center seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse for a 9‑month position. The role involves direct patient care in the clinic, triage, phlebotomy, IVs, ear irrigations, splinting, and wound care under Health Center policies.

General Information:

The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintaining nursing skills by performing direct patient care in our clinic, which includes acute care services in multiple clinics working under Health Center policies and standing orders. Performing triage, phlebotomy/IVs, ear irrigations, splinting, and wound care as well as other services as needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Current Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
• Demonstrated experience in acute care nursing.
• Experience with phlebotomy, point-of-care laboratory testing, and EKG administration.
• Experience administering immunizations and specialty medications.
• Ability to accurately document patient care and maintain clinical records.
