Job summary

Maricopa County Correctional Health Services is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the jail healthcare team. You will administer medications, provide extensive patient care, and contribute to the planning and evaluation of nursing care within the correctional setting.

Qualifications

• Require valid, unrestricted LPN license issued by AZ State Board of Nursing or multi-state license.
• Experience in medical setting with medication passes.
• Venipuncture/IV infusion certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare to patients inside Maricopa County jails.
• Administer medications and complete pharmacological procedures.
• Educate patients on health-related needs and assess care requirements.
• Monitor patient progress and report outcomes.
• Assist in orientation and training of staff and students.

Posting Date 08/13/26 Application Deadline 08/27/26 Pay Range $30.00 - $41.00 hourly Sign-on bonus of up to $3,000 for eligible licensed practical nurses Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

Shift Differentials

• An additional $1.75 per hour for hours worked between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• An additional $3.00 per hour for hours worked between 11:00pm - 7:00am

About the Position

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be a vital member of Maricopa County's Correctional Health Team and work in partnership with Maricopa County Sheriff's Detention Officers. You will perform specialized nursing functions, including administering medications, therapeutic treatments, providing extensive patient care, and participating in the planning, implementation, and overall nursing care evaluation.

Requirements

We Require Valid, unrestricted license as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state. We Also Value Experience as a licensed practical nurse. Experience in a medical setting, requiring large medication passes. Intravenous Infusion Therapy/Venipuncture certification.

Job Contributions

• Provide healthcare to patients inside the Maricopa County Jails
• Provide health-related education as appropriate to patient needs
• Administer medication and complete related pharmacological procedures
• Collect data for assessment of care needs, report findings, and deliver appropriate nursing interventions
• Monitor patient's progress and report outcomes
• Participate in orientation and training of new employees, contract staff, students, and others

Working Conditions

• Ability to work inside a jail
• Ability to respond to emergencies
• Ability to get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney that may weigh up to 35 pounds
• Be assigned to various clinical locations in the Phoenix area within a 5-mile radius
