Job summary

Maricopa County is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Correctional Health team in the Phoenix area. You will administer medications, provide extensive patient care, and participate in care planning, implementation, and evaluation within a jail setting.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, respond to emergencies, and support ongoing staff training while enjoying shift differentials and a comprehensive benefits package offered by Maricopa County.

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted LPN license issued by the Arizona Board of Nursing or a multi-state compact license.
• Experience in a medical setting with medication administration and patient care.
• Infusion therapy/venipuncture certification is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare to patients inside the Maricopa County jails.
• Administer medications and complete related pharmacological procedures.
• Deliver health-related education to patients as needed.
• Monitor patient progress and report outcomes to the team.
• Support orientation and training of new staff and students.
• Assist in planning and evaluation of nursing care.

$30.00 - $41.00 hourly

Sign-on bonus of up to $3,000 for eligible licensed practical nurses

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

Check out our shift differential pay in addition to our base wage:

• An additional $1.75 per hour for hours worked between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• An additional $3.00 per hour for hours worked between 11:00pm - 7:00am

About the Position

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be a vital member of Maricopa County's Correctional Health Team and work in partnership with Maricopa County Sheriff's Detention Officers. You will perform specialized nursing functions, including administering medications, therapeutic treatments, providing extensive patient care, and participating in the planning, implementation, and overall nursing care evaluation.

We Require

• Valid, unrestricted license as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state

We Also Value

• Experience as a licensed practical nurse

• Experience in a medical setting, requiring large medication passes.

• Intravenous Infusion Therapy/Venipuncture certification

Job Contributions

Working Conditions

• Ability to work inside a jail

• Ability to respond to emergencies

• Ability to get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney that may weigh up to 35 pounds

• Be assigned to various clinical locations in the Phoenix area within a 5-mile radius
