Job summary

The Nassau County School District is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the 2026-2027 school year within the Middle Schools and School Services. The position supports health services for students, including nursing procedures, medication administration, and health education.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform invasive and non-invasive medical procedures as ordered, including tube feeding and tracheostomy care.
• Maintain records for nursing procedures performed on a routine basis.
• Administer medications to students as prescribed; document administration per rules.
• Provide health information to physicians and parents as directed.
• Provide basic first aid and attend to students' health needs.
• Teach selected students selected procedures where appropriate.
• Maintain health room operations and supplies.
• Practice universal infection control procedures.
• Attend scheduled meetings where nursing input is required.
• Coordinate with Nassau County Health Department and physicians as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of Intervention and Prevention.
• Provide health education to students.

MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL SERVICES

1 LPN

RANGE OF PAY:

$40,185.88 41,996.92 (10 months/196 Days)
(While in effect, additional compensation from the Millage initiative will be awarded annually. For the 2026-27 school year, the amount for this position is $6,750 and will be prorated from July 1, 2026.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Licensed as a practical nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464. Must maintain license during employment. Certified in CPR and maintain certification during employment. Preferred experience in pediatric nursing.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• (1) Perform invasive and non-invasive medical procedures required and ordered by student's physicians to include but not limited to tube feeding, cleaning and maintaining a tracheostomy catheterization, monitoring blood glucose, and administering emergency injectable medication.
• (2) Maintain adequate records for documentation of nursing procedures performed on a routine basis.
• (3) Administer medications to students as prescribed by the student's physician. The need for this medication to be administered by the nurse must be documented. The administering of said medications and documentation provided must be in compliance with the rules of the NCSB.
• (4) To collect health related information and to provide this information to the student's physician and/or parent as directed.
• (5) Provide basic first aid and attends to students' health needs as indicated in the School Health Services Manual.
• (6) Ability to teach selected students selected procedures.
• (7) Maintain effective and productive operations of designated health room and/or treatment sites, including clinic supplies.
• (8) Practice universal infection control procedures.
• (9) Attend student scheduled meetings when nursing input is required.
• (10) Contact the Office of Intervention and Prevention, the Nassau County Health Department, and the student's physician as necessary.
• (11) Perform other duties as assigned by the Office of Intervention and Prevention.
• (12) Provide health education to students.
• (13) Uphold the best interests of students, staff and community in support of the District's Mission Statement.

Heavy Work:

Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
