Job summary

Manatee Cove Elementary School seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to protect and promote student health in accordance with Florida expectations.

The role includes assessing health problems, administering medications, maintaining health records, and collaborating with staff and parents. A valid Florida LPN license, CPR/First Aid, and two years in pediatric or school health are required. This is a full-time position reporting to the Principal and Nursing Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Licensure as a practical nurse in Florida (464) or eligible per FAC.
• Two years pediatric, public health, or school health experience.
• Current CPR and first aid certification.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License; obtain FL license within 30 days if required.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and assess health problems and concerns.
• Coordinate routine medical interventions as needed.
• Provide nursing care and physician-ordered treatments and medications.
• Maintain health room operations and clinic supplies.
• Assist in managing health problem referrals.
• Serve as health education resource for faculty and staff.
• Maintain and interpret student health records.
• Attend student staffings and participate in IEPs as appropriate.
• Maintain nursing documentation of care, treatments, and meds.
• Provide health-related in-service programs to staff.
• Utilize health resources to provide appropriate student care.
• Attend seminars/workshops for professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Principal or Nursing Supervisor.

POSITION GOAL:
To appraise, protect and promote the health of the students at assigned school(s) within the scope of practice

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. *Identify, evaluate and assess health problems and concerns.
2. 2. *Coordinate any necessary routine medical interventions needed.
3. 3. *Provide nursing care and physician ordered treatments, procedures and mediations to designated students.
4. 4. *Maintain effective and productive operation of designated health room and/or treatment sites, including clinic supplies.

Required Qualifications/Certifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Licensure as a practical nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code
• Two (2) years pediatric, public health, or school health experience
• High school graduation or equivalent
• Current CPR and first aid certification
• Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License; if a holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver’s License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver’s License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required

REQUIRED SKILLS:
