Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a part-time, school-based role in Olympia, Washington, for the 2026-2027 school year. This position delivers direct nursing care in a school setting and collaborates with school staff to support student health.

You will administer medications, follow WAC guidelines, maintain documentation, and work with a care team to ensure student safety and participation in learning activities.

Qualifications

• Active Washington State LPN license in good standing
• Graduation from an approved practical nursing program
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Ability to perform nursing duties within the LPN scope of practice established by WAC 246-840-705

Responsibilities

Ampersand Therapy is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a part‑time, school‑based position in Olympia, Washington, for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a meaningful opportunity to provide safe, student‑centered nursing care while collaborating with school staff and supervising healthcare professionals.

Position Details Location: Olympia, WA Schedule: Part‑time, 16 hours per week Start Date: ASAP Setting: In‑person, school‑based

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Direct Nursing Care: Deliver care in routine and stable clinical situations while recognizing and responding to students’ basic healthcare needs.
• Administer Medications and Treatments: Perform tasks permitted under WAC 246-840-705, including medication administration and selected treatments.
• Implement Nursing Regimens: Carry out selected components of nursing care plans as delegated by a Registered Nurse or licensed provider.
• Monitor Student Health: Observe, document, and report changes in students’ conditions to supervising healthcare professionals.
• Support Complex Care: Assist Registered Nurses in complex or rapidly changing clinical situations.
• Maintain Compliance: Follow Washington State Board of Nursing standards, infection‑control protocols, school district procedures, and organizational policies.
• Collaborate With Care Teams: Work interdependently with Registered Nurses, physicians, therapists, educators, families, and support staff to provide coordinated care.
• Maintain Documentation: Complete accurate and timely nursing notes, treatment records, and other required documentation.
• Promote Student Access: Support students’ health, safety, dignity, and ability to participate in their educational programs.

Required Qualifications

• Active Washington State LPN license in good standing under RCW 18.79
• Graduation from an approved practical nursing program
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Ability to perform nursing duties within the LPN scope of practice established by WAC 246-840-705
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
• Ability to complete all required fingerprinting, agency onboarding, and district clearance requirements before starting

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Washington healthcare settings, including schools, clinics, long‑term care, home health, or hospitals
• Pediatric or school nursing experience
• Familiarity with Washington State Board of Nursing guidance, including the Scope of Practice Decision Tree
• Experience supporting diverse populations and providing trauma‑informed care
