Job summary

The State of Iowa is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Women’s Intake Center to deliver essential healthcare within a secure facility. This 1pm-11pm shift offers 10-hour days with 2-3 days off in a row and every other weekend off, working with RNs and a multidisciplinary team to provide assessments, treatment, and education.

Ideal candidates are dependable, compassionate, and detail‑oriented, with Iowa LPN licensure and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in aCorrections setting.
  • Coordinate with RNs and multidisciplinary teams to address health needs.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient and staff health appraisals and conduct health clinics.
  • Perform physical examinations, document patient visits, and assist in patient record management.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary health teams to address patient needs, including mental health interventions and medication administration.
  • Respond to medical emergencies alongside RNs and provide hands‑on care and support.
  • Maintain and prepare medical supplies, assist with lab services (ie: UA’s, EKGs), and support telemedicine and x‑ray services.
  • Ensure proper medication administration, accountability and documentation following institutional policies.
