Job summary

Amedisys is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse for full-time day shifts in Metairie, LA. You will verify plans of care with RNs, collaborate with physicians, and educate patients and families on self-care at home. Duties include vital signs, medication reconciliation, and performing physician-ordered procedures.

Qualification includes an active LPN license, CPR, and a valid driver’s license; we offer comprehensive health plans and benefits as part of a national home health provider.

Qualifications

• One year of clinical LPN experience.
• Current LPN license, state-specific.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Verify plan of care with the RN prior to each visit.
• Collaborate with physician and RN to meet patient needs; notify changes promptly.
• Teach patients and caregivers self-care techniques.
• Check vital signs.
• Review medications and perform reconciliation at each visit.
• Perform specialized procedures ordered by physician (e.g. foley catheter change).
• Prepare equipment and materials for treatments using the aseptic technique.
• Complete documentation timely and accurately.
