What You’ll Do
  • Provides patient care as directed
  • Documents patient-related care timely within the electronic health record
  • Maintain patient medical records
  • Administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications; may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified
  • Performs treatments
  • Assists with Doctor’s Sick Call
  • Assists with chronic care clinics management
  • Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities
  • Responds to emergencies
  • Provides emergency care and collection of patient data
  • Collects vital signs and timely documents all findings
  • Collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens
  • May perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis
  • Prepares patients for release and/or transfer by reviewing patient care, completing Intra-System Transfer Summaries and/or Release Summaries
  • Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services
  • Participates in work-related training and institution training exercises as assigned
  • Provides assistance to other healthcare staff
  • Investigates and documents problem areas and/or areas of concern
  • Reviews shift reports from preceding shifts
  • Assist physicians with medical procedures
  • Assumes duties of other nurses during absences
  • Observes, documents and provides nursing support to assistive personnel
  • Provides patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities
  • Performs administrative duties
  • Attends meetings
  • Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
  • Assists ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met
  • Must work overtime as required

Starting pay is approximately $58,000 based on shift assignments.

Ohio has joined the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), which went into effect January 1, 2023. The NLC allows an LPN to hold one multistate license (MSL) in their primary state of residence while practicing across state lines in 37 other compact states.
