What You’ll Do
- Provides patient care as directed
- Documents patient-related care timely within the electronic health record
- Maintain patient medical records
- Administers medication, including oral and intramuscular medications, may administer intravenous therapy if appropriately certified
- Performs treatments
- Assists with Doctor’s Sick Call
- Assists with chronic care clinics management
- Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities
- Responds to emergencies
- Provides emergency care and collection of patient data
- Collects vital signs and timely documents all findings
- Collects urine and/or other body fluid specimens
- May perform venipuncture to obtain blood samples for laboratory analysis
- Prepares patients for release and/or transfer by reviewing patient care, completing Intra-System Transfer Summaries and/or Release Summaries
- Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and timely forwarded to pharmacy services
- Participates in work-related training and all institution training exercises as assigned
- Provides assistance to other healthcare staff
- Investigates and documents problem areas and/or areas of concern
- Reviews shift report from preceding shift(s)
- Assist physicians with medical procedures
- Assumes duties of other nurses during absences
- Observes, documents and provides nursing support to assistive personnel (nurse aides, psychiatric attendants, patient care assistants)
- Provides patient education regarding healthcare maintenance and prevention of disease
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities
- Performs administrative duties
- Attends meetings
- Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings
- Performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
- Assists ancillary staff including Health Information Technicians and medical schedulers as needed to ensure patient care needs are met
- Must work overtime as required

Qualifications
License: Licensed practical nurse license issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code
Certifications: MDS certification issued by ANNAC
