Job summary

RI International is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse in Durham, NC to join a multi-disciplinary clinical team in a behavioral health setting. The LPN will support an RN and assist in crisis care, medication management, and patient education, with a rotating 7:00am–7:30pm schedule and a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

The role requires completion of an accredited LPN program, current LPN licensure, and at least one year in behavioral health.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
• Current and valid LPN license.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral health setting.
• Knowledge of psychiatric medications, indications, side effects, and interactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide guest care and advocacy, including education on diabetic care, psychiatric medications, and other medical needs.
• Coordinate care and assist individuals with making medical appointments as needed.
• Monitor medications under RN supervision and maintain medication records per policy.
• Complete clinical documentation and stay updated on regulations and policies.

Shift Details: 7:00am - 7:30pm (Rotating Schedule days)

Work Location: Crisis - NC Durham 309 Crutchfield Street

Salary / Hourly Wage: $27.00 - $29.00/hour

Sign-on Bonus: $2,000

Summary of Job: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team. The LPN position also identifies the need for medical attention and alerts the Physician and/or RN of medical concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Guest Care & Advocacy:
  • Provides education regarding diabetic care, psychiatric medication, and other medical needs to enhance individual health and wellbeing.
  • Coordinates care, including assisting individuals with making medical and/or other provider appointments as needed.
• Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Assists with intake process.
  • Collects blood or urine specimens and arranges transport to lab as ordered.
  • Monitors care of individuals, including monitoring medications under the supervision of the RN.
  • Oversees and maintains medication records in accordance with policy and state regulations.
  • Completes clinical documentation as required.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and all Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
• Cross Functional Collaboration:
  • Provides support to medical assistants and other staff as needed, which includes treatment and discharge planning.
• Additional Duties:
  • Performs other related duties assigned.

Job Requirements

• Education / Licenses:
  • Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
  • Current and valid LPN license.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
  • Thorough comprehension of psychiatric nursing preferred.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications and their indications, common side effects, reactions, and interactions of medications prescribed.
  • Ability to work with agitated guests in crisis and their families to implement behavioral management interventions.

• Driving Requirements:
  • If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
  • If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a non-driver attestation form must be signed.
• Miscellaneous Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old unless residing in a state where funder or government regulations set a different minimum age requirement.
  • Travel required based on business need.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality (HIPAA guidelines and regulations) and professionalism.
  • Successful completion and meeting all requirements of the comprehensive credentialing process if applicable.
  • Second-Chance Employer: Must be able to pass a seven-year background check, substance abuse testing and/or tuberculosis testing (if applicable), education verification check, fingerprinting clearance in applicable states, and a three-year motor vehicle report meeting insurance carrier criteria if driving is required.

A Nursing Competency Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.

Physical Demands

May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye–hand–foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Work Environment

May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused.
