Job summary

Recovery Innovations in Columbus, OH is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join a multidisciplinary team in a crisis care setting. The LPN will work under an RN and collaborate with physicians to identify medical needs and respond to concerns.

The role requires an accredited LPN diploma, current license, and at least 1 year in behavioral health with knowledge of psychiatric medications. Expect credentialing, patient advocacy, and a focus on safe, compliant care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current and valid LPN license.
  • Minimum of one year in a behavioral health setting.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medications, indications, side effects, reactions and interactions.
  • Ability to work with agitated guests in crisis and families to implement behavioral management interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guest care and advocacy, including education on diabetic care and psychiatric medication.
  • Coordinate care and assist with medical appointments as needed.
  • Assist with intake, collect specimens and arrange transport to lab as ordered; monitor medications under RN supervision.
  • Maintain accurate medication records and complete clinical documentation.
  • Support medical assistants and other staff with treatment and discharge planning.

Work Location

Crisis – Franklin County Crisis Care Center, Columbus, OH

Salary / Hourly Wage

$25.00 – $32.00 per hour

Summary of Job

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team. The LPN identifies medical needs and alerts the Physician or RN of concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guest Care & Advocacy
    • Provide education on diabetic care, psychiatric medication, and other medical needs to enhance individual health and wellbeing.
    • Coordinate care, including assisting individuals with making medical and/or other provider appointments as needed.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Assist with intake process.
    • Collect blood or urine specimens and arrange transport to lab as ordered.
    • Monitor care of individuals, including monitoring of medications under RN supervision.
    • Oversee and maintain medication records per policy and state regulations.
    • Complete clinical documentation as required.
    • Keep abreast of all federal and state regulations and all Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they exist and change.
    • Understand and adhere to Recovery Innovations compliance standards as outlined in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Provide support to medical assistants and other staff as needed, including treatment and discharge planning.
  • Additional Duties
    • Perform other related duties assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Education/Licenses
    • Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
    • Current and valid LPN license.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of one (1) year in a behavioral health setting.
    • Thorough comprehension of psychiatric nursing preferred.
    • Knowledge of psychiatric medications, indications, common side effects, reactions, and interactions.
    • Ability to work with agitated guests in crisis and families to implement behavioral management interventions.

    • Must pass de-escalation training as defined by state requirements.
  • Driving Requirements
    • If driving is required, meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
    • If not qualified, sign a Non-Driver Attestation form.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Must be at least 18 years old unless otherwise required.
    • Travel required as needed.
    • Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) and professionalism.
    • Successful completion of comprehensive credentialing process if applicable.
    • Second-Chance Employer: Must pass a seven-year background check, substance abuse testing (if applicable), education verification, fingerprinting clearance, and for drivers, a three-year motor vehicle report.
Physical Demands

Work may involve close-to-eye tasks, substantial wrist, hand, and/or finger movements, frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, and manual dexterity. May lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

Office environment or behavioral health facility; may have contact with agitated or confused individuals.
