Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you are a vital part of the rehabilitation team, working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain movement, reduce pain, and restore function after injury, illness, or surgery. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Patient Care Implementation: Assist in executing treatment plans created by the physical therapist to meet patients' rehabilitation goals and needs.
  2. Therapeutic Exercise and Activities: Guide patients through prescribed exercises and activities to improve physical function and support recovery. Educate patients on proper techniques, monitor progress, and provide feedback for safe and effective participation.
  3. Modalities and Physical Agents: Apply treatment modalities correctly, monitor patient responses, and adjust parameters to achieve optimal outcomes.
  4. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families on injury prevention, proper body mechanics, and pain management techniques.
  5. Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track and document patient responses, progress, and changes in functional status. Communicate regularly with the supervising physical therapist to update treatment plans as needed.
Qualifications
  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Current license or certification in the state of practice
