Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you play a vital role on the rehabilitation team, working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain movement, reduce pain, and restore function after injury, illness, or surgery. Your primary responsibilities include:

1. Patient Care Implementation: Assist in executing treatment plans created by the physical therapist to meet patients' rehabilitation goals and needs.
2. Therapeutic Exercise and Activities: Lead patients through prescribed exercises and activities to improve their physical function and recovery. Educate patients on proper exercise techniques, monitor progress, and provide feedback for safe and effective participation.
3. Modalities and Physical Agents: Properly apply treatment modalities, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments as necessary for optimal outcomes.
4. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families on injury prevention, proper body mechanics, and pain management techniques.
5. Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track patient responses to treatments, document progress, and communicate regularly with the supervising physical therapist to update and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
• Current license/certification in the state of practice
