Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you will be a vital part of the rehabilitation team, working under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain movement, reduce pain, and restore function after injury, illness, or surgery. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Patient Care Implementation: Assist in executing treatment plans developed by the physical therapist to meet patients' rehabilitation goals.
  • Therapeutic Exercises and Activities: Lead patients through prescribed exercises, monitor progress, and provide feedback to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Modalities and Physical Agents: Properly apply treatment modalities, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments as needed.
  • Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families on injury prevention, body mechanics, and pain management techniques.
  • Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Document patient responses, progress, and communicate regularly with the supervising physical therapist to adjust treatment plans accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice
