Volkert is seeking a Civil Project Engineer - Transportation to support our Southwest Region located in Houston, TX (or other TX cities). The role focuses on geometric design projects for TXDOT and local governments, with emphasis on quality and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, 4+ years of relevant experience, and a BS/MS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, and can pass pre-employment drug screening and MVR checks.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 4+ years relevant experience.
• Licensed PE.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen per federal guidelines and state variations.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory MVR.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, schedules, environmental studies and designs for projects.
• Evaluates need for design changes and makes recommendations.
• Consults with construction personnel on constructability with respect to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling.
• Uses computer aided engineering/design software to prepare engineering documents.
• Adheres to QA/QC standards per the quality manual.
• Submits documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance and permits.
