Qualifications

• Must hold Optician license in the applicable state and maintain licensure.
• Current ABO and/or NCLE certifications required or if applicable per state regulations.
• Active state licensure/registration is required to perform the duties.
• Education minimum: High school diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred.
• NPI registration where applicable and ongoing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides member service by acknowledging members, identifying needs, and assisting with purchases.
• Educates members on eyewear usage and supports contact lens care.
• Measures pupillary distance and lens wear positions for various lenses; assists in orders and repairs.
• Performs frame adjustments, final inspection of eyewear, and coordinates with labs/optometrists on status.
• Processes optical orders and insurance claims; handles payments, returns, and refunds as applicable.
• Maintains HIPAA-compliant records and supports documentation and paperwork for the optical area.

Education

Licensed Optician

Active state licensure/registration

ABO/NCLE certifications
