Job summary

Walmart Inc. Sam's Club in Jackson, TN is seeking an Optician to join our optical team. You will provide member service, help with eyewear selections, measure pupillary distance, and process eyewear orders while upholding privacy and HIPAA guidelines.

You will maintain the Optical area, stock merchandise, assist with frames and lenses, verify prescriptions, and coordinate with labs and optometrists to ensure accurate and timely service. A state license and ABO/NCLE certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Maintains active state licensure/registration for opticianry.
• Maintains ABO/NCLE certifications through ABO and NCLE.
• Willing to sponsor Apprentice Optical Technicians as required by state regulations.
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; state-specific requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provides member service by acknowledging members, identifying needs, and assisting with purchasing decisions.
• Educates members on eyewear usage, care, and hygiene guidance; supports contact lens handling.
• Operates optical sales, processes orders, and handles payments, returns, and exchanges per policy.
• Measures Pupillary Distance and lens wear for various lens types; verifies prescriptions.
• Maintains and stocks the Optical area; inspects and repairs frames and lenses; coordinates with labs.
• Ensures HIPAA compliance and proper documentation; schedules appointments when needed.

Education

High school diploma, GED or equivalent

Associate’s degree in opticianry, healthcare, or related field
