Job summary

Visionworks of America, Inc. in New York seeks an energetic optician to assist customers with frame and lens selection, interpret prescriptions, and dispense eyewear.

You will provide accurate product information on frames and lens options, coordinate with the Lab and Optometrist for prescription accuracy, and ensure proper pricing and insurance guidance. This is a full-time in-store role with HIPAA compliance and ongoing licensure maintenance.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Strong knowledge of optical products, prescriptions and fitting/dispensing.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a retail environment and handle insurance information.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in frame and lens selection while maintaining social distance.
• Provide accurate product information on frames, lens options and services.
• Explain benefits for insured customers and note any charges not covered.
• Use SERVE process to identify needs and recommend lenses.
• Interpret prescriptions and coordinate with Lab and Optometrist for accuracy.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories with precise measurements.
• Maintain clean, orderly dispensing area and accurate pricing.
• Adhere to HIPAA and privacy policies.
• Participate in training and maintain licensure requirements.
