Job summary

Visionworks in the United States (New York area) is seeking a dispensing professional to assist customers with frame and lens selection and to interpret prescriptions for optical products and services. You will dispense frames and accessories, communicate with labs and optometrists, and ensure accurate pricing while upholding privacy policies and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
• Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products, services, the analysis and interpretation of optical prescriptions, fitting and dispensing.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in frame and lens selection.
• Provide accurate product information regarding frames and lens selections.
• Explain insurance benefits and note charges not covered by third party coverage.
• Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and lens recommendations.
• Interpret prescriptions and communicate with Lab and Optometrist for accuracy.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories with proper measurements.
• Maintain a clean, orderly dispensing area.
• Ensure pricing accuracy for retail customers.
• Maintain license requirements per State guidelines.
• Provide guidance to Apprentice Opticians.
• Adhere to HIPAA and data privacy policies.
• Participate in training to meet departmental goals and requirements.
• Maintain equipment and facility cleanliness daily.
• Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
