Job summary

UChicago Medicine seeks an Operating Engineer to manage the operation, maintenance and repair of building systems at the Hyde Park Center. This 100% onsite role requires strong knowledge of power, HVAC, steam and water systems.

The position involves operating building automation systems, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring safe, efficient facility operations for the Medical Center complex.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Must have and maintain a City of Chicago Stationary Engineers License (or equivalent).
• EPA Refrigerant License required.
• 5–7 years of experience in power plant/facility operations or building automation/controls.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and repair building utility systems (heating, cooling, ventilation, steam, water).
• Operate BAS (Johnson Controls, Siemens, Andover) to manage building operations.
• Participate in start-up, commissioning, and capital projects.
• Maintain steam distribution and high pressure vessels (up to 180 psi).
• Ensure safety, cleanliness and timely completion of all tasks.
