Job summary

Natural Systems Utilities is seeking a Licensed Mobile Operator in Hillsborough, NJ. The role covers mobile wastewater operations across Southern New Jersey, performing testing, maintenance, and reporting to ensure regulatory compliance.

As a self-starting individual, you will manage your schedule to cover assigned sites, document all activities, and participate in on-call rotations. A NJ wastewater license and driving duties are required, with weekend/holiday availability.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly operating reports for clients or regulators as required.

Licensed Mobile Operator

Full Time Hillsborough, NJ, US

Salary Range: $23.00 To $38.50 Hourly

SUMMARY: This position is a mobile operator position serving NSU’s Southern New Jersey Service Area, The Mobile Wastewater Operator provides operations and maintenance support to various wastewater facilities as directed. The Mobile Operator is an independent and well-organized self-starter who is capable of managing his or her schedule to complete assigned site coverage requirements as noted below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as PH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., in order to monitor system condition
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
  • Assist in preparing monthly written operating report based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
  • Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
  • Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards
  • Participates in a 24 hour on call rotation
  • Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel
  • Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
  • Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation within the designated service area.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
  • Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
  • Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route
  • Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
  • Confined Space Entry – this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Hold a valid NJ: S-3 and C-3 Wastewater Licenses. S-2 and C-2 licenses with the abilities to sit for the grade 3 would be acceptable.
  • 5 years of water and wastewater experience is preferred.
  • 40-hour work week: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (30-minute lunch)
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as requested.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Available for emergency situations.
  • Available for 24 hours on call rotation.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • Valid US driver’s License
  • NJ S-3 and C-3 Wastewater licenses preferred.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Company-issued vehicle, e.g. pickup truck or van
  • Various analytical meters, including, but not limited to, pH meters, DO meters, composite sampler
  • Computer and/or tablet and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, and computer printer
