Job summary

Natural Systems Utilities in Ham Lake, MN is seeking a mobile operator to support water and wastewater facilities across the Ham Lake service area. This full-time, on-site role reports to the operations supervisor and requires independent time management to cover assigned routes.

Responsibilities include field testing (pH, DO, chlorine), recordkeeping, alarm response, and client communication to ensure regulatory compliance and service quality.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • 1 year of wastewater experience preferred.
  • 40 hour work week: Mon-Fri, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
  • Must be able to work weekends/holidays as requested.
  • MN Class C or D Wastewater License desired; Water license desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform critical testing of facility operations (pH, DO, chlorine) to monitor system condition.
  • Maintain complete records of all facility operations and maintenance.
  • Submit event inspections and BRP summaries as required.
  • Inform supervisor of plant problems and repairs in a timely manner.
  • Operate plants to meet regulatory guidelines and responsibilities.
  • Develop scope of work for repairs or resamples and prepare work orders.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve removal.
  • Work weekends and holidays as assigned.

Salary Range: $23.00 To $40.00 Hourly

SUMMARY:This position is mobile, headquartered in NSU's Ham Lake MN, office and serving NSU's Operations, covering the Ham Lake service area, providing operations and maintenance support to various water and wastewater facilities as directed by the operations supervisor. The mobile operator is an independent well-organized self-starter able to manage his/her own time to complete assigned site coverage(s) in their given allotted time. Responsibilities include operations and maintenance as well as alarm call response and client satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as pH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc. in order to monitor system condition.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance.
  • Perform general preventive maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes, pulling and inspecting submersible pumps and floats, etc.
  • Submit event inspection and sampling reported in online database and prepare BRP summary forms based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer, manufacturer or regulatory agency as required.
  • Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
  • Work conscientiously and be aware of safety hazards.
  • Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities.
  • Develop scope of work for repairs or resamples and prepare work orders
  • Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc., removal.
  • Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
  • Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned routes.
  • Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • 1 year of wastewater experience, preferred
  • 40 hour work week: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as requested
  • Overtime as required
  • Understanding of basic laboratory procedures
  • Understanding basic electrical troubleshooting procedures
  • Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
    o Valid Driver's License required
  • MN Class C or D Wastewater License (desired)
  • MN Class C or D Water License (desired)
