Job summary

Community Health Centers seeks a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to work with patients and families, helping them understand illness, cope with emotions, and navigate treatment decisions. You will collaborate with doctors, nurses, and allied staff using case management to resolve social and psychological challenges related to health.

The role requires a Florida LMHC license, BLS, and within-two-weeks certification in FARS/CFARS, plus at least two years in behavioral healthcare.

Qualifications

• Florida LMHC license required.
• BLS certification required or obtainable within 30 days of employment.
• FARS and CFARS certification within first 2 weeks of employment.
• 2 years of experience in social service or clinical behavioral healthcare setting required.
• Ambulatory health center experience preferred.
• Familiarity with multicultural groups; language/cultural coursework encouraged if needed.

• Monday: 8am-6pm.
• Tuesday: 8am-7pm.
• Wednesday: 8am-5pm.

Job Summary

The Licensed Mental Health Counselor assists patients, and their families understand a particular illness, work through the emotions of a diagnosis, and provide counseling about the decisions that need to be made. Works in collaboration with CHC clinical staff (doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals) using case management skills to help patients and their families address and resolve the social, financial and psychological problems related to their health condition.

Qualifications

Education

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health Counseling.

Certification/Licensure

• Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
• Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within the first 30-days of employment.
• Must obtain the Functional Assessment Rating Scale (FARS) and Children’s Functional Assessment Rating Scale (CFARS) certification within the first 2 weeks of employment.

Experience

• 2 years previous experience in social service or clinical behavioral healthcare setting is required.
• Experience in an ambulatory health center preferred.
• Requires someone familiar with and sensitive to multiple cultures, family customs and child rearing practices.
• Familiarity with multicultural groups, previous work experience in a multicultural setting and willingness to enroll language and multicultural coursework to supplement training if necessary.

Special skills

• Knowledge of EHR software or equivalent, preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding privileged administrative and client information in a professional manner.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Other requirements

• Able to work flexible hours including weekends as needed.
• May be required to travel to other CHC centers.
