Homestead Post Acute in Lexington, KY is seeking a licensed Medication Aide to provide safe, accurate medication administration for residents. You will follow facility policies, document procedures, and work with nurses, physicians, and pharmacists to support resident care.

You will participate in quality assurance activities, verify resident identity, and maintain confidentiality of health information while meeting state requirements for training and certification.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school education or its equivalent.
  • Must be a licensed Medication Aide having completed a state-approved training program and any necessary examination(s).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures and regulations; write reports and procedures.
  • Able to perform documentation and record-keeping as required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow facility policies and procedures for administering medications to residents.
  • Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
  • Assist in developing procedures to determine what medication errors occur and how to prevent them.
  • Complete forms, charts, and reports as required.
  • Maintain professional relationships with nursing staff, physicians, and pharmacists.
  • Report complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and medication-related committees.
  • Accurately prepare, administer, and document oral/topical medications.
  • Verify medications brought by new residents are approved by physician/pharmacy.
  • Follow labeling and charting procedures and document discontinued medications.
  • Notify nursing leadership of medication errors or adverse reactions.
  • Verify resident identity before administering medications.
  • Record vital signs accurately and timely.
  • Support residents who self-administer medications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
