Job summary

Laurus in Schererville, IN is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to assist residents with daily medications and treatments. The role requires CMA certification, CPR and First Aid, and a compassionate approach to elder care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous Healthcare Geriatrics Caregiving or experience working with the elderly population preferred.
• Must have CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must have CMA certification.
• Must have a TB clearance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medication and treatments as ordered by physician in accordance with policy and procedures.
• Verify identity of resident before administering medication or treatment.
• Follow hand washing policy for medication passing universal precautions and infection control.
• Order medications supplies and equipment as necessary in accordance with established policy.
• Remove expired or discontinued medications for cart and resident apartments as required in accordance with established procedure.
• Ensure medication records are accurate for your shift and keys are always accounted for.
• Report all discrepancies noted concerning physicians orders medication count or any other unusual situations and complaints regarding resident services and care to your immediate supervisor.
