Job summary

SST Direct is hiring a Licensed Wastewater Operator for a direct hire in Roseland, NJ. This role offers full benefits including PTO, medical, dental, and 401(k). Salary is between $80,000 and $94,000 per year based on experience.

You will operate physical, chemical, and biological treatment systems, monitor readings, perform sampling, maintain logbooks, and ensure NJDEP compliance. The ideal candidate holds a NJ Wastewater Treatment Operator License (N-1 or N-2) and has 2+ years of wastewater

Qualifications

• New Jersey Wastewater Treatment Operator License – Class N-1 or N-2.
• 3–5 years of industrial/manufacturing experience.
• Minimum 2 years of wastewater treatment experience; food/beverage manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of NJDEP regulations and industrial pretreatment requirements.
• Experience repairing/rebuilding pumps and replacing motors, valves, aerators, and filters.
• Ability to run and fit PVC and black piping.
• Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
• Microsoft Office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize physical, chemical, and biological treatment systems, including DAF, pH neutralization, equalization, and solids handling.
• Monitor daily water, softener, and cooling tower readings.
• Perform routine testing and coordinate required grab and composite sampling.
• Maintain logbooks, records, and data for monthly DMR reporting and NJDEP compliance.
• Adjust chemical feed rates based on wastewater conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on pumps, blowers, valves, sensors, motors, and other equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
• Follow OSHA, LOTO, confined space, and all plant safety procedures.
