Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Licensed Group Counselor to deliver group psychotherapeutic services under clinical supervision. The role supports patients across units with multiple group formats, while adhering to health, safety, and regulatory standards.

The position requires a Master’s degree in Social Work or related field and NJ licensure, with a commitment to ongoing professional development. The schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or related Mental Health Counseling field.
• Minimum 1 year relevant healthcare experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office and/or Google Suite).

Responsibilities

• Provides therapeutic activities assessment and group counseling services to assigned patient groups.
• Completes the Group Counselor Assessment within 48 hours of admission.
• Provides a minimum of four therapeutic groups per day, an evening group one day per week, and weekend groups on assigned units.
• May provide groups on other units as needed.
• Adheres to health and safety requirements and to all Hospital, Federal, State, and Joint Commission requirements.
• Assesses learning needs and documents appropriately; provides age appropriate learning opportunities.
• Leads unit preparations for holiday celebrations.
• Provides information to the treatment team regarding progress in groups.
• Develops a plan of care and attends multidisciplinary treatment plan conferences.
• Documents progress in weekly notes and discharge summaries.
• Participates in meetings and continuing education.
