Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey seeks a Group Counselor to provide therapeutic activities and group counseling to assigned patient caseload. The role includes leading groups and coordinating with treatment teams to support recovery and learning needs.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field and at least 1 year of healthcare experience; a Master’s Degree is preferred. Schedule includes weekdays with some weekend coverage and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
• Minimum 1 year healthcare experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and Google Suite platforms.
• Masters Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides therapeutic activities/leisure assessment and counseling services to assigned patient groups.
• Completes the Group Counselor Assessment of the patient within 48 hours of admission.
• Provides a minimum of four therapeutic groups per day, an evening group one day per week, and weekend groups on assigned units.
• Participates in the Wellness Choices program to provide groups on other units.
• Maintains compliance with health and safety requirements and regulatory standards.
